Uber Ride Pass: Is it worth it?

For a monthly subscription fee, your rides will be impervious to surge pricing . That’s because a Ride Pass gives you consistently low prices (about 15% off) on UBERx and Uber Pool rides at all times. Despite the name, Ride Pass doesn’t get you any free car rides. Instead, you are exempted from surge pricing, ensuring that you pay the standard rate no matter what time of day you travel or what the weather might be like. It also includes free ebike and scooter use in some cities. Uber introduced a subscription service called “Uber Pass.” The pass is available in select cities and offers riders discounts on fares and other benefits.

Uber isn’t the only ride-hailing service hopping on the subscription bandwagon. Earlier this month, Lyft, one of Uber’s main competitors, also launched a monthly plan, offering 30 rides to customers for $299. Those monthly ride passes are basically just coupon books. You pay 80.00 for the month, and they reduce all your rides by 5.00, and etc.

Uber has expanded their monthly subscription service to Nashville. You pay a monthly fee for discounted rides on all Uber platforms, including electric bikes, scooters, UberX, Uber Pool and Express Pool. The company announced today that it’s offering an UberPool “commute card” to members of Gilt City, a flash sales site, for the months of July and August. The pass is good for rides on Pool, Uber’s pseudo-carpooling service, anywhere in Manhattan below 125th Street during weekday commuting hours (7-10am and 5-8pm, Monday through Friday). Uber is selling a two-week pass for $49, a four-week pass for $79, and an eight-week pass for $159.
